READVERTISING: SENIOR LECTURER/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN THE SCHOOL OF LANGUAGES AND LITERATURES – AFRICAN LANGUAGES SECTION (CONTRACT POSITION)

The School of Languages at Rhodes University is seeking to appoint someone at the level of Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor and invites suitably qualified candidates to apply.


Main Objectives

All academics are responsible for the dissemination of knowledge (teaching and learning), creation of knowledge (research) and community engagement, recognising that there are differences in the execution of these responsibilities within the various departments and Faculties.  Academics are also expected to assume some administrative, management and/or leadership duties at the departmental, Faculty and/or University level, and make some contribution to their profession.

The requirements

Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor:
A PhD in Sociolinguistics or Applied Language Studies with experience in teaching in disciplinary areas such as IsiXhosa Language Teaching, Language planning, Terminology, Lexicography with a focus in African Languages

Remuneration per annum:

Senior Lecturer:

Basic Pensionable Salary per annum: R 742,411.00

Cost to Company per annum (approximately): R 960,928.00


Associate Professor

Basic Pensionable Salary per annum: R 887,318.00

Cost to Company per annum (approximately): R 1,141,001.00
