Applications Developer (Grade 12)

Information and Technology Services

The Information and Technology Services Department invites suitably qualified candidates to join their team. 

Main Objectives

To customise software solutions required for the administration of the University, and to support users in the operation of such software and programs. The position also requires querying and analysis of the underlying data to provide answers to ad hoc queries generated by users of software. Sometimes this work may involve working with databases and data sources other than the centralised administrative system but will usually be limited to data and databases that are critical to the University administration systems. The job also provides basic DBA duties.

The Requirements

A 3- year qualification with approximately 3 years’ relevant experience

  •  Relevant experience is evidence of experience in a programming environment developing software using either C# or web technologies such as HTML, Javascript and JSON and consumption and understanding of API’s
  • Knowledge of PHP would be an advantage

Selection Process (provisional date, subject to change):

  • Short-listing meeting date to be confirmed.
  • The selection process that will be followed for this post will include an assessment and/or presentation and an interview.

Remuneration per annum (Grade 12):

Basic Pensionable Salary per annum:                          R440 529

Cost to Company per annum (Approximately):             R584 474

All applications will be treated in strict confidence. This post is advertised as a permanent post, but the University may opt to appoint on a fixed-term contract of not less than three years. The University reserves the right not to proceed with the filling of the post.
